Product Description The raw revolution that began in 2003 with the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in for Adobe Photoshop has changed the way photographers work with images. Shooting in the raw format gives digital photographers complete control over every aspect of image quality. Adobe Camera Raw makes the process of using raw files easier by providing a standardized way of accessing and working with these uncompressed digital negatives. Today serious photographers shoot raw images only. Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop was the first book devoted exclusively to the topic, explaining the advantages and challenges of using Adobe Camera Raw to produce magnificent images.
Real World Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS3 keeps pace with new directions in digital photography and raw image processing. Jeff Schewe, a contributor to the development of Adobe Camera Raw from its beginnings, updates Bruce Fraser’s best-selling book with inside knowledge of how new features let photographers optimize and convert images for the best results in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Hands-on techniques show readers how to expose and shoot for raw image capture as well as use new features such as Spot Healing. Readers will also learn how to use the latest version of Adobe Bridge to manage the thousands of images?and gigabytes of data?that result from raw shooting. Finally, Schewe discusses how Adobe’s latest revolutionary imaging software Photoshop Lightroom adds to the raw equation.

Very nice book....but August 24, 2008 Dean W. Wilkey (HAIFA Israel) This book has helped me understand Camera Raw a lot better, and helped with my work flow of both images that were shot digitally as well as analog images that I scanned via my Epson scanner. It is a bit technical at times, and I think that it could have benefitted from more samples/examples in it's explanations, but overall it does contain quite a bit of material to digest and incorporate into one's use of photoshop. Nice book and recommended.
A Satisfied Customer July 26, 2008 Chad Johnson (Knoxville, TN) I am a new user of Adobe PhotoShop CS3 and Camera Raw. I read the book and then read some parts again. The book is filled with examples and leads you through each step in the process. I am sure that I will be returning to the book as a reference tool. I highly recommend it.
Better images, less time, what a deal! June 28, 2008 M. Winchester This book is one amazing guide on the inner workings of rendering an image from raw camera files. If you capture raw files AND you use Photoshop CS3 for your image processing, then this book is a must have. Not only will it help you render better images from your raw files, it will help you do so in less time. While always practical in intent, the book gives the reader the opportunity to understand the camera raw plug-in, tab-by-tab and preference-by-preference.
Since I've been working my way through the book, I've also found less need for tweaking much on the file after I have my initial render. The camera raw plug-in has so much capability - it is one of the wonders of the software world. This book helps one tap into all that is available. It's always best to get it right in the camera and this resource allows you to make the most of what you've captured.
If you shoot RAW buy this book - period. June 23, 2008 Thomas W. Zane (Utah) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Reading this book has greatly enhanced my ability to process RAW quickly, easily, and with better results. If you use Photoshop and you shoot RAW, buy this book - period.
full June 13, 2008 L. Green (wasilla, alaska) This book, along with the video from Luminous Landscape, are an asset to a photographer.
